Our Commitment
Marine Diagnostic Tools ("MDT") is committed to ensuring digital accessibility for people with disabilities. We continually improve the user experience for everyone and apply the relevant accessibility standards to make our learning management platform as inclusive as possible.
Conformance Status
We strive to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA. These guidelines explain how to make web content more accessible to people with a wide array of disabilities. Conforming to these guidelines helps make the web more user-friendly for everyone.
Measures We Take
MDT Learning takes the following measures to ensure accessibility:
- Keyboard navigation support throughout the platform, including skip-to-content links
- Semantic HTML structure with proper heading hierarchy
- ARIA labels and roles on interactive elements, dialogs, and navigation
- Sufficient color contrast ratios meeting WCAG 2.1 AA standards
- Text alternatives (alt text) for meaningful images and icons
- Focus indicators on all interactive elements
- Responsive design that supports browser zoom up to 200%
- Form labels and error messages associated with their respective inputs
- Modal dialogs that trap focus and can be dismissed with the Escape key
- Screen reader compatibility through semantic markup and ARIA attributes
Known Limitations
While we strive for full WCAG 2.1 AA compliance, some content may have limitations:
- Third-party SCORM course packages may not meet all accessibility standards, as they are produced by external content creators
- Some PDF certificates may not be fully accessible to screen readers
- Video content within courses may not always include captions or transcripts
We are actively working to address these limitations and improve accessibility across all content.
Assistive Technologies
MDT Learning is designed to be compatible with the following assistive technologies:
- Screen readers (NVDA, JAWS, VoiceOver, TalkBack)
- Screen magnification software
- Speech recognition software
- Keyboard-only navigation
